Egyptian Mummies of the Natchaug River with Dr. Ricklin

Dr. Leslie Ricklin, Professor Emeritus of Eastern Connecticut State University, shares the fascinating history of the mills on the Natchaug River.  Her lecture paid particular attention to the paper mill in Chaplin that used Egyptian mummy wrapping for the manufacture of paper.

Individual Music Lessons at Chaplin Elementary

We’ve offered individual instrument lessons as well as classroom instruction for longer than most schools in the area have been around!

P.S.  Mrs. Peck teaches more than just the trombone.  There’s piano and many other instruments.   Why don’t you ask her about it?

School Clean Up Day

The Chaplin Elementary School community had been pulling together to beautify the grounds and building at the school this summer. On August 7th a mighty group of committed individual braved the threat of bad weather to work on cleaning up the pre-K gardens and the Water Garden. The work will continue into the school year and will include work on the greenhouse and indoor painting.
