CHAPLIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

0.6 FTE ART TEACHER

Chaplin Elementary School is accepting applications for a 0.6 FTE Art teacher to deliver high-quality classroom instruction beginning on August 24, 2026.  The successful applicant must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  He/she will work in collaboration with administration, teachers, paraprofessionals and support staff to develop effective teaching, learning, and assessment strategies. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive visual arts curriculum that aligns with state standards and district goals.
  • Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate best instructional practices, including differentiated instruction, collaborative learning, and technology integration.
  • Teach various aspects of art education, including the differentiation between media, technique, and process to communicate ideas or feelings.
  • Foster a classroom environment that is welcoming, respectful, and supportive of all students, promoting equity and inclusion.
  • Encourage students to explore their visual arts talents and express themselves creatively through the creation of and description of personal works.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and skill development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to support student learning and create opportunities for students to showcase their visual arts abilities.
  • Participates in faculty meetings, department meetings, and professional collaboration as appropriate during the assignment.
  • Encourages positive student behavior consistent with district expectations.
  • Selects and uses appropriate instructional materials, technology, and equipment to support learning.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student records and information.

Additional Duties

  • Assists with school-wide activities, assemblies, and supervision duties as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal or designated administrator.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Connecticut teaching certification in Art Education (042)

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Cafeteria Staff
Chaplin Elementary School is looking for a dependable and friendly individual to join our cafeteria team. 
Pay: $17.00 per hour 
Hours: 

  • Monday–Friday 
  • Follows the school calendar 

Responsibilities 

  • Assist with preparing and serving breakfast and lunch. 
  • Set up and clean the serving line and kitchen. 
  • Wash dishes and sanitize work areas. 
  • Follow all food safety, state, and child nutrition guidelines. 
  • Work as part of a team to provide a positive dining experience for students. 

Qualifications 

  • Reliable and punctual. 
  • Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. 
  • Food service experience is preferred but not required. 
  • Must pass all required background checks.
