1.0_FTE MUSIC TEACHER
Chaplin Elementary School is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Music Education teacher to deliver high quality instruction beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. The successful applicant must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. He/she will work in collaboration with administration, teachers, paraprofessionals and support staff to develop effective teaching, learning, and assessment strategies.
Responsibilities will include:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with state standards and district goals.
- Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate best instructional practices, including differentiated instruction, collaborative learning, and technology integration.
- Teach various aspects of music education, including vocal and instrumental music, music theory, and music history.
- Foster a classroom environment that is welcoming, respectful, and supportive of all students, promoting equity and inclusion.
- Encourage students to explore their musical talents and express themselves creatively through performance and composition.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and skill development.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to support student learning and create opportunities for students to showcase their musical abilities.
- Participates in faculty meetings, department meetings, and professional collaboration as appropriate during the assignment.
- Encourages positive student behavior consistent with district expectations.
- Selects and uses appropriate instructional materials, technology, and equipment to support learning.
- Maintains confidentiality of student records and information.
- Experience teaching instrumental and/or band preferred.
- Experience leading a school chorus preferred.
Additional Duties
- Assists with school-wide activities, assemblies, and supervision duties as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal or designated administrator.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut teaching certification in Music Education [Music, PK–12 (049)]
